A graduate in Visual Communications from the Nanyang Technological University's School of Art, Design and Media, Ng Si Ying is a designer by day and a rattan artist by night.
Her research project, atinymaker by Ng Si Ying, originated from a desire to discover more about a material that was, and still is, very dear to Singapore and Southeast Asia - rattan. Si Ying is on a mission to exhaust the possibilities of rattan and push its materiality in aesthetics and function. For her, every work and exploration with rattan is an ongoing dialogue to rediscover the old and new relationships between material-object-man and rattan’s purpose in our time.
